Espresso Martini

Spring is here, which means more time outdoors! On my 30th birthday, I served espresso martinis (blog here), and they were a huge hit, so I wanted to share the recipe. As a coffee lover, this drink is a no-brainer—it’s the perfect blend of caffeine and alcohol, plus it’s aesthetically pleasing. Since I have a low alcohol tolerance and love caffeine, I sometimes adjust the recipe to use less alcohol and more espresso. The vodka amount here is pretty standard, but feel free to tweak it to your taste. Making it at home also saves you money—especially with inflation these days. If you’re looking for a new drink to try this year, here’s the recipe!

INGREDIENTS

1: Vodka (2 oz)

2: Coffee liqueur such as Kahlua (1/2 oz)

3: Simple syrup (1/2 oz)

4: Espresso shot (1 oz)

5: Coffee beans* (3)

*optional

STEP BY STEP – 5 min (1hour including the cooling time)

1: Make a fresh espresso shot about 1 hour before serving and let it cool in the fridge. If you don’t have a machine at home, you can easily buy espresso from a nearby coffee shop. They usually sell it, and you might need to grab a few shots depending on how many servings you’re making.

2: Fill the cocktail shaker a little more than halfway with ice, then add all the ingredients except the coffee beans.

3: Close the lid and shake shake shake the cocktail shaker. This step is key for getting a foamy top layer. Shake hard for about a minute.

4: Slowly pour the mix into a glass and garnish with coffee beans on top of the foam. They float perfectly, and it’s so satisfying!

That is it! Now go and enjoy your drink!

Cheers!

Fatima
