This Is Not a Bag, It’s a BAGUETTE!

THIS IS THE MOST ICONIC BAG!! If you know Sex and the City then you know what this bag is about.  Season 3 of episode 17, called “What goes around comes around”, Carrie gets lost in the streets of New York and a guy robbs her bag and Manolo Blahnik shoes. It’s so sad, but notably, it is pretty absurd that the guy knew the value of a Fendi bag and Manolo heels haha. Anyway, the iconic part is that when the robber demands her bag with the line “Give me your bag”, Carrie replied with “It’s a Baguette.” Even though she was terrified about this incident, I loved her witty come back.

Fast forward to early 2019, Fendi announced in a campaign that they are bringing back the iconic purple sequin bag. The bag is slightly different from the original one as the current color seems to have a cooler tone, and the top handle strap is detachable. This new version also has a detachable shoulder strap, so it comes with more options. I really wanted the bag then but it was just so out of my price range that I didn’t even allow my brain to consider buying it. When I got a better job, I slowly put the bag in a maybe pile. One day I was writing down all the bags I own and separating them by color. I realized that I did not have any purple bag or gold bag and I thought it would be so nice to have a purple bag for the Fall season to come.

Since that Fendi campaign, I think they had at least 2 drops that they got sold out immediately. I couldn’t get my hands on the bag straight from Fendi, so I looked up pre-loved stores. I wasn’t that shocked to see the price was almost double the actual price, but I was not going to spend that amount of money for not even a brand-new bag. So, I called Fendi one day in early May to investigate if they would have another drop. Zina, the sales associate, told me that she was not sure but she could put me on the waitlist. Skip to Jun 21st, Zina contacted me really out of the blue that there would be another drop tomorrow and she can send me the purchase link if I want to purchase. I was excited but very nervous to make a decision about this big chunk of money going towards one bag. In the end, I really wanted this and I knew I would regret not buying it from Fendi when I had the opportunity.

Before I purchased the bag via link, they told me it would arrive almost 3 months later, after September 20th, as this bag is all made to order in Italy. Surprisingly, they completed my bag pretty fast so that I was able to get my bag a month early, on August 21st. It seems it’s not sold out yet, so if you want this iconic bag, check out the link below. (It is not an affiliate link.) I am so over the moon and ecstatic!! This is the most expensive bag I own to date and I am so proud of what I achieved. This is a good reminder to myself that if I work hard and get my mind to it, I can always accomplish anything. Cheers to a baguette in purple rain color 🙂 Can’t wait to style this!
