Bustling Butterfly

I am not the type to wear skimpy clothing anymore. I left that provocative phase long time ago. Now, my style has evolved in the way that I believe a sexy look can be achieved without showing all the assets. Of course, any rule has exceptions and this is the exception. The back of this butterfly top is pretty much non-existent and the front is there just to cover the girls. It is designed to show off cleavage and midriff, so such exposure is not my go-to. However, this one was just too beautiful to pass up! This, to me, is an artwork that was made to be playful rather than alluring. The shine of all the gems is striking and reminds me how life is filled with vibrancy and joy!

I was not fully emersed in American culture around 2000’s, so I wasn’t aware that butterfly top was a thing. I get a lot of fashion inspiration from scrolling through my Instagram feed and this was not an edge case. I saw a bunch of butterfly motif tops on people’s Coachella posts. At the time, I was looking through it mindlessly and thought I wouldn’t buy it since I have no festival to go to (Unless Cocomelon in my living room lol.) But to my surprise, my mind changed 180 when I saw this crystal butterfly top from AREA. I wanted to get it and wore it as a fun street look instead. In the end, if you like something so much, you don’t need a proper occasion to wear one 🙂 I even fell more in love with this blingy top when I saw Dua Lipa wearing it for Vogue’s 73 question series (watch here). It was shining like a diamond in the dimmed room and was just simply fabulous! I wore 2 patterns of shoes to style this top, so tell me which version you like better!
