08 Sep Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie Bag
My dream bag is here! Last year, I made a list of bags that I wish to get and wrote a blog post about it (you can read it here.) When I was writing that, I knew I won’t be able to get them all, but I definitely wanted to get my hands on some. I am trying to build a staple wardrobe which means for me is to have a go-to handbag in every colors!
I didn’t own a green bag, so I had my eyes on the Bottega Veneta Jodie bag in this perfect vivid green shade for a while. Also, because I needed a less structured casual bag that I could use year-round, it was a no-brainer to get this bag. I’ve never owned anything from Bottega, but I knew that they were known for their leather goods and weave. When we went to Hawaii last year, I was looking for a mini Jodie bag in this green shade (they call it parakeet), but I couldn’t find it in stores. Since then, I have been looking for this bag everywhere, yet the parakeet color was hard to find.
Fast forward to when we booked a flight to Hawaii after I had Katya, I was determined to look for this bag there again. Designer handbags have cheaper price tags in Hawaii compared to anywhere in the mainland U.S. This bag on the mainland would be $2,500 + tax, but in Hawaii, it is $2,130 + tax. On top of that, the tax in Hawaii is about half of the one in California. Who doesn’t like to save some money!? When I finally found this bag in the parakeet shade in Hawaii, I jumped for joy! I think it will be a regular thing now for me to buy designer goods in Hawaii!
I am in love with this bag because the weaving and the knot give a uniquely sophisticated look, but the slouchy shape counteracts the polished look and gives a relaxed, casual vibe as well. Since I prefer smaller bags, this size is perfect as well. The only downside to this bag so far is the difficulty of getting into the bag. Because the zipper is placed onto the curved surface, it is not the easiest bag to open with just one hand. These are the pros & cons of this bag, but overall, I am over the moon about it 😉 Can’t wait to style this bag to share the outfits here!
