8 months with Katya

8 months with my little creature!!

Now, according to our measurement, she is 19lb 2oz and 27 inches! She is surely getting bigger and stronger! She has been also more aware of her surrounding and enjoying to explore.

About milestones, what Katya reached this month are…

  • Makes noises to get your attention.
  • Explore everything around them – for example, they might ring bells, bang blocks, and find hidden objects.
  • Is shy, clingy, or fearful around strangers.
  • Makes different sounds like “mamamama” and “babababa”.
  • Reaches to grab a toy she wants.
  • Closes lips to show she doesn’t want more food.

On June 13th, just a less than a week before Father’s Day, she started clearly saying “dadadadada” and it was the sweetest Father’s Day gift she could have ever give 🙂 After the event, she hasn’t stop saying “dada” and “tata” daily. She says those words while looking at not only Erik, but also me or random objects too, so that tells me she has no clue what dada means yet. She’s definitely practicing the speech though 😉 Lucky us, she loves to scream or make very loud noise which we get to hear it all day long. All my co-worker at this point heard her scream at least once. Lucky them too 😉

Other cool development of hers is that now, she can move backwards or change the direction while she is on her tummy. She is absolutely restless and tries to explore around her by using those skills. She cannot move forward or crawl yet, but once she obtains the skill, we will be in big trouble 😉 We have to watch her every second making sure to keep her alive haha.

She also now sleeps on her tummy and favors that way. When I saw her sleeping on her tummy, I run to her and immediately checked if she was breathing.  That scared me so much and still worries me every day. For the first few times that I found her sleeping on her tummy, I flipped her to sleep on her back, but then she always found herself back on her tummy.  Because it was impossible for us to keep turning her unless we monitor her through the night, we just made sure to follow “safe sleep environment” protocol.  Just like her daddy, she obviously loves sleeping on her tummy and we cannot fight genes!

Food wise, she eats solid, mostly twice a day (once a day if we are too busy working to feed), and she loves to eat them. When we bring a spoon close to her mouth, she opens up her mouth very wide and aggressively moves her head forward to welcome the food in haha. She tried a variety of fruits and vegetables, and her favorite foods for this month are prune and surprisingly, green beans! Can’t wait to introduce her to more food 🙂
