20 Apr Katya’s First Easter & Airplane Ride
Many updates I want to share about last week because it was an exciting week for Katya! We went to Idaho for a week which was planned a month ahead to surprise Erik’s grandma. After the Covid broke out, it was not easy for her to travel by airplane, so she hadn’t seen Katya yet. So then, to make it easier, we decided to bring Katya to her 🙂
To fly with a baby was an unknown territory to us. We didn’t prepare anything special for that but just in case she got fussy, we fully stocked her milk in travel bag. My main worry was that she screams or cries in the airplane and bothers other passengers. Maybe it was the beginner’s luck, she slept through most of the flight time both ways. It was such a relief to us! Also, our trips were made easy by priority boarding and the fact that we could use a stroller all the way to the aircraft door. It would be too tiring to carry a baby till you get on board. It was such an easy process to have our stroller and baby car seat checked in, and we were very happy about that 😉 Now we are pros!
The reasons we decided to visit Erik’s grandma on Easter weekend beside to celebrate Easter with them were 1) because Katya was close to 6 months and we felt that she could handle the germs in crowded places, and 2) to celebrate grandma’s birthday. It was her first Easter and birthday without her husband, Erik’s grandpa, so we wanted to spend time with her celebrating. To make this visit extra memorable for her, we told Erik’s family not to disclose about this to grandma in order to surprise her. After we landed at the Boise airport, we were picked up by Erik’s mom and secretly arrived at their house. We got in the house from the back door carrying Katya and walked toward grandma. While walking toward her, I think Erik’s mom said something about picking up hitchhikers lol. As soon as she noticed us, she started crying with joy and it was the most precious moment 😉 Katya cried when grandma held her because she had never seen her great grandma before. She got used her in a few tries though. Glad they had some bonding time together 🙂
We stayed in Idaho from 4/13 to 4/19. We were working remotely on most of the weekdays so, having Erik’s family taking care of Katya was godsend haha. It was so nice not to worry about her and be able to focus on work! Another nice thing about the trip was the feast we had every day. They took us to places to eat or took out food from restaurant. So many good foods and we ate like royalty.
While we were there, we celebrated Easter with his family including cousins, uncle and aunt. We also explored Idaho on the weekend and checked out places. What I was excited about for the weekend was for Katya to meet her fur-cousins, Koda and Kylo. The dogs were so interested in her but Katya wasn’t curious about them which was not what I expected lol. Hope she can be a better friend to them next time!
Dressing up Katya for Easter was something I had been looking forward to since she was born. Everything about a bunny and a chick themed outfit on the baby were just the sweetest things we can bless our eyes with! I got bunch of outfits for her first easter weekend which I don’t think I went overboard haha ;P! I will share her outfit detail below, and you can check the outfits out in the YouTube video here! Hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend with your loved one!
