Sunflower Field in Half Moon Bay

I have always wanted to visit sunflower field, so I finally did! Usually, people would visit sunflower field in the peak season, summer, but I got caught on finding/moving into house that I totally lost the timing. I almost gave up on visiting sunflower field this year, but then I found out that there were few sunflower fields in Northern California which peak during fall season ðŸ™‚

When I discovered Andreotti family farm, I knew I had to visit! They locate in Half Moon Bay which is not so far from our place. The ticket is $20 per person which includes 5 stems of sunflowers that you can pick from their field. They recommend to bring your own tools to pick the sunflowers just in case the tools they provide run out. We brought our own tools, but we realized the stems are too thick for our shears. When we arrived at the farm at the earliest time slots that we could sign up, there were many large sized pruning shears, and they handed one to us to use. The staffs there were so friendly, and they explained to us how to cut the sunflowers and where we could find bunch of blooming sunflowers. In the end, we successfully picked 10 perfect sunflowers!

I read a tip online that the best time to visit sunflower field is in the early morning. Reason being the morning time is not too hot, so petals are opened up perfectly ðŸ™‚ If you are going there for photoshoot purpose then right after sunrise will be the best timing to capture golden lighting. To add, it would be less visitors in the field, so you don’t need to worry about people in the background or fighting for spot. The earliest time that this farm opens their field to public is 10 am, so that is what we did.  If you visit sunflower field close to noon, then it might be too hot that sunflowers’ head could be facing down. So, this is my little tip to you! I cannot wait to visit sunflower field again with our baby girl for good photoshoot session in the future!

We visited sunflower field last weekend, and I was 29 weeks pregnant in the pictures! I am 30 weeks pregnant now, and I cannot believe I made it to big 30! It is getting so close to meet her! Love that I was able to capture the bump with sunflowers 😉

After we finished our sunflower picking session, we went to nearby coffee shop called Granola’s Coffee Shop. I was so satisfied after finishing waffles and coffee. The place was packed both inside and outside. I guess it is a popular spot for local in Half Moon Bay. I recommend to go for quick bite and sip 🙂 It was sweet little day trip for us!

I wore this dress so many times and I mention it in the past post. You can read here! I hope you are enjoying weekend, and see you in the next post!
