Resolutions 2021

Happy New Year my friends! How did you spend your first few days of 2021? I had to work thru new year eve till yesterday and finally I am taking a little break! Even thought I had to work, it was pretty slow and relaxing. In the evening, we were catching up on holiday movies and new Netflix shows. Is there any of you still watching Christmas movie like us? I guess we don’t want to let go of holiday vibe haha. Hope you had a great holiday with your loved one and started your year great 😉

As this post being the very first of the year, I thought this should be my new year resolution post. I used to find new year resolution cheesy and lots of over promising. I have written down resolution that was impossible to archive too many times before, and it ended up pretty disappointing for me. So then, I became a bit bitter and sarcastic toward resolution itself and people who make resolution. As I get older though, I realize they were impossible to achieved because I made them impossible by not taking them seriously, not planning them thoroughly to make them happen, and not making enough effort daily toward goals. Welcoming new year is something powerful. It is a blessing to see another year 🙂 I want to make this year better than last year and achieved things that I set as goals!

So, here are some goals that I want to accomplish this year.

  1. Learn Japanese dishes and cook more.
  2. Go out more to explore locally and globally.
  3. Buy a house
  4. Don’t bring my phone into bed.
  5. Be on time to meetings both online and in person.

1: Recently I enjoy cooking more than ever. It is not always turned out to be a picture perfect pretty dish nor taste good. However, I found fun in making food from scratch. I love to eat and what I crave the most is Japanese food that I grew up eating. From where I live, it is costly and time consuming to buy authentic Japanese food from restaurant so, making it myself makes sense to me. Plus, I want kids in the future, and I want them to know what homemade Japanese foods taste like. This year, I want to try cooking more. It is also definitely good way to know what I eat which helps me become healthier 🙂

2: Last year, Erik and I were planning to visit my family in Japan and to go on honeymoon. Unfortunately, pandemic happened and we couldn’t do those, but it made us realize there were many hidden gems around us. If pandemic doesn’t restrict us this year then we definitely want to explore globally, but if not, we will still want to explore locally and enjoy the adventure!

3: We are saving for a house for a while now, and when housing market is right for us, we are planning to buy a house! It will be such an accomplishment for both of us and absolutely be the highlight of the year!

4: I love my phone so much that I am with my phone all the time. But I should at least leave my phone when I am trying to sleep because It distracts me so much from good night sleep. I typically watch shows on my phone or scroll social media feed till I fell asleep which sometime till 2 am. It got better last year, yet I am still not be able to fully get rid of this habit. I heard beauty night sleep is between 10pm to 2am which I am not getting benefit from it. I am so attached to my phone that it will be hard, but I want to keep the bed a phone free zone this year.

5: This year was big change in my work environment. I used to commute 2 hours each way due to heavy bay area traffic, however because of Covid-19, I have been working from home since early March last year. Even my work and social meeting took place online, I still managed to be late. For work, I am talking about few minutes, yet it is still not a good habit to keep. I want to manage my time wisely to be remembered as on time person than fashionably late person. My husband will probably laugh and be proud at this goal because this is the one thing that he has been telling me to be better at. I made an improvement last year, but I want to completely achieve this year 🙂 I am planning to say bye to my time optimism and get an ability to plan my time well.
