Reflecting on 2020

Today is the last day of 2020! I am working from home today like any other Thursday, but I am planning to spend evening with family watching movies and countdown while sipping apple cider. I am definitely apple cider girl more than Champaign. It’s always tasted better to me 🙂

As we came to the end of year, I cannot help but to reflect on myself this year. I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish earlier this year (read the post here), so I will go thru the list once again to see what I was able to accomplish!

  1. Drink 3 cups of water a day.  (currently I drink max of 1 cup of water)
    – Somewhat accomplished. Can do better.
  2. Sweat 5 times a week. Participate in some exercise.
    – Definitely didn’t do that.
  3. Lose 8 kg (17.64 lb.)
    – Somewhat accomplished. (- 3kg) Can do better.
  4. Go back to Japan and reunite with friends and family
    – Covid happened and couldn’t.
  5. Go on honeymoon
    – Covid happened and couldn’t.
  6. Buy less clothes
    – Yes! achieved!
  7. Dress up more
    – Yes! achieved!
  8. Be on time
    – Somewhat accomplished. Can do better.
  9. Lean Korean and be able to hold conversation with natives
    – didn’t accomplished but watched lots of Korean show lol
  10. Save money for house
    – Yes! achieved! Need little more saving till reaching our goal.
  11. Get promoted
    – Yes! achieved! And it was twice!
  12. Host one party
    – Covid happened and couldn’t.
  13. Go to bed at the reasonable time. Be a morning person.
    – Somewhat accomplished. Can do better.

You can see that out of 13 goals, 4 were achieved, 4 were somewhat achieved, 3 were impossible due to Covid, 2 weren’t accomplished at all. Beside the inevitable factors that made some goals impossible to achieved, I am looking at 7 things that weren’t fully accomplished and thinking what I could have done differently. I think the problem was that I forgot some of the goals in the midst of pandemic. Many adjustments had to happen and filled with dramatic news this year that I simply forgot my goals. I should have revisit the goal in every 3-4 months at least to check where I was at toward goal. That is my to do for next year; keep track of my goal! Life happened and pandemic unfortunately happened this year, yet there were many things I could definitely done more. Take this lesson and I will work on it next year!

I also shouldn’t forget to celebrate the accomplishment this year. This is also time to reflect on the great things happened in our lives. Even though 2020 has been adjustment for me, I am grateful to welcome new year with good health, happiness and success in my life;) I know some of you got hit by 2020 harder than others. This year was definitely unusual and challenging. I wish all of you great health, happiness and overall better year for next year! Thank you for your support this year and see you in next year 😉
