Once Blair Said…

“Whoever said money doesn’t buy happiness didn’t know where to shop.”

Spotted: Foreign F in San Francisco wearing Blair’s dress 😉

This is the time of the year and Foreign F is back! Happy Halloween everyone! This is super exciting post for me! As you can tell, I decided to go for Blair this year. (I have done Serena’s outfit last year, and if you want to read that as well click here). The reason why I wanted to recreate this scene from Gossip Girl is I often seen this outfit used for Blair’s famous quote “Whoever said money doesn’t buy happiness didn’t know where to shop.” When I have my own custom closet of my dream, I want to hang the quote and that is how much I am into the quote 🙂 I even have my own saying “no swipe no life” and I definitely have Blair’s spirit, just don’t have the same credit card limit as her (sob). If you want to rewatch the scene after reading this post, check out season 1 episode 16 and season 4 episode 1. Her quote is found in season 1 and her outfit is found in season 4.  I forget often that these two separate scenes are mixed together to make the legendary meme!

Talk about Blair’s fabulous outfit she wore in Paris while shopping, this purple beaded organza dress is by Maxime Simoens. Btw, this dress was on air only for about 2 seconds. Until I rewatched the scene, I didn’t realize how short that shopping scene was haha. This is why I love Gossip Girl. Even if the scene will be on air for a few seconds, they use immaculate dress for the scene and they pay attention to every detail. When I decided to recreate this scene in August, I was on hunt for this dress. Finally, after deep diving into many online shopping sites, I found vintage shop in Melrose, LA called Decades Inc. I couldn’t believe my luck of finding this magnificent dress! To talk more about Decades Inc, it was such a pleasant experience purchasing this dress. I had question about measurement, and when I called, the stuff there was very sincere and explain all my question well. The great shopping experience always add more to satisfaction of purchase, and it has power to make you feel special. It is off topic but I appreciate good customer service so that I had to mention here haha. Going back to topic of dress, it is such a heavy dress considering so much fabric layered like millefeuille and intricate bead work. I love vivid color against my skin, and something sparkly is my absolute favorite thing to wear! Needless to say, this dress was perfect combination of two. This dress is so unique that definitely one of the kinds! Obsessed!! I hope you like this dress as much as I do 😉

Rest of the original outfit Blair wore were Christian Louboutin heels, Roger Vivier purple satin tube clutch bag, and black and silver-ish bracelet. First, I am not sure what is her stye of Louboutin heel (it looks like rounder toe than mine), but I already had my black Louboutin so I decided to use that. As for Roger Vivier clutch, I couldn’t find it in any pre-loved shop, so I decided to go for way cheaper alternative from Amazon. Gotta love Amazon for literally having anything we wish for! The last part of her outfit, I tried to see what bracelet she was wearing, but there isn’t a great image available online to determine so I decided to go without it.

Most important part of recreating this scene was the shopping bag from Designers. After checking the image shots in multiple angle, I finally found what shopper bag she was carrying. They were from Prada, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Baccarat, and Gucci. I had some already, and some I had to order online. Louis Vuitton bag I order didn’t come on time so I used the black gift bag instead. I was so OCD that I wanted to get the same size as Blair’s, but it was so hard to find one haha. I might redo the shoot with Louis Vuitton bag in it at City Hall, but we will see! If I do, I will share with you here of course! So that is all the detail about the Blair’s outfit from first episode of season 4. I hope you enjoyed!
